We are the Veteran's Association of North County, (VANC). For the first time in the History of Oceanside, we are establishing a Veteran's Memorial Building, for the use by all Veterans and their families.
The Veteran's Association of North County is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, established to provide a building for all Veterans to include but, is not limited to, aid Veterans and their families, and to participate in patriotic functions.
The various veteran's organizations of the Veteran's Association of North County collectively represents 5,000 members throughout North San Diego County. We feel this number will grow once we are established in a permanent location. The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), has quoted 265,000 veterans in San Diego County and that about 80,000 of those live in North County.
What this means to our North County Vets is for the first time a large number of veteran's organiztations will have a mailing address for those organizations other than a PO Box #. For the first time a large number of veteran's organizations will have a permanent location, so that when asked by a perspective member, where are you located, they will be able to say with pride, the Veteran's Memorial Building at 1617 Mission Ave., Oceanside. This new center will offer a central location where veterans can go to get information about veteran's activities and their VA benefits.
Our common "goals and objectives" are to provide a meeting place for ALL veterans to meet, and plan for the various programs they support, regardless of what veteran's organization they belong to or whether they're Active or Retired.
What the VANC facility will provide will be stability for the Veteran's Community in North County and those organizations that do not have a permanent location. A place to raise money for the many programs that they provide to their fellow veterans and to the community.
